ZTL is building the next generation of bank-independent payment infrastructure. We provide modern, API-driven payment solutions that enable software platforms and system owners to offer seamless financial services to thousands of businesses.

We’re now looking for a Tech Lead who wants to play a key role in shaping the technical direction of our regulated payment platform.

As a Tech Lead in ZTL, you’ll work closely with the CTO, Product, DevOps, and the engineering team to balance delivery speed, quality, scalability, and regulatory requirements.

🌟 What You’ll Do

Shape Technical Direction

Contribute to and refine ZTL’s technical strategy together with the CTO
Set direction for architecture, scalability, and long-term system health
Translate product goals and regulatory requirements into pragmatic technical solutions

Lead by Doing

Work hands-on in the code while guiding architectural decisions
Lead design discussions and code reviews
Identify and manage technical debt over time
Ensure high standards for code quality, security, and reliability

Strengthen Engineering Culture

Support and mentor engineers
Improve engineering processes and collaboration
Work closely with Product and DevOps to ensure smooth, predictable delivery
Contribute to hiring and team growth when needed

👩‍💻 Who We Think You Are

You have solid experience building modern backend or full-stack systems, ideally in cloud environments
You’ve contributed to system design and architectural decisions in a product-driven environment
You understand the balance between engineering excellence and pragmatic delivery
You care about security, scalability, and reliability, especially in regulated environments
You enjoy writing code, but are equally motivated by helping others succeed.
You communicate effectively in Norwegian and English

Experience in fintech, payments, APIs, or regulated systems is a strong advantage, but curiosity and the ability to learn fast matter more than ticking every box.

We run our applications in the cloud (Microsoft Azure), using containerized services, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.

Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Slack, Miro, Jira, Confluence

You don’t need hands-on experience with every tool in our stack. If you’ve worked with similar technologies and understand the underlying principles, you’ll ramp up quickly.

We’re currently around 20 people, characterized by an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset. While we can offer some flexibility, we primarily like to work together from our office in downtown Oslo.
